Lawrence and the farmhouse

A typical early 19th century English house situated on the Latium slope of the National Park of Abruzzo.

The house is named in honour of the famous writer D. H. Lawrence who stayed here as Orazio Cervi’s guest in 1919. This was where Lawrence found the inspiration to complete his novel The Lost Girl, creating the background to the narrative events from the natural scenery and the people of this district.

In restoring the building, the Pacitti family, who are its present owners, have taken great care to preserve its original structure and layout, so that it has remained just as Lawrence describes it in the novel. The building is also a holiday farmhouse. The Pacitti family have been farmers and stockbreeders for generations and produce delicious cheeses, wines and meat which holiday guests can enjoy..
